Natural Bridge State Park

Natural Bridge is a stunning park. Pictures do not do this justice. I am not quite sure what I was expecting the first time I visited Natural Bridge. We pulled up on a cool day in late December.

I was expecting a little bit of a walk to the site. We bought our tickets and began our walk down the stairs. There is a nice stream that accompanies you down the walk to the main part of the trail. The paved trail is beautiful especially in the spring and summer when the trees have their leaves in full effect. As you start down the paved path you turn a subtle corner and are met with a stunning view of a huge and I mean huge arch of rock. It is breathtaking how large and majestic the formation is.

The path continues under and through the ‘Natural Bridge’ next to a river. There are multiple places to stop and read about some history of the area and some experiences from the past. You can follow the trail about a mile and a half to its end point where you can see a view of a natural waterfall from a distance. Maybe it was because of the shock I had as I approached the main attraction, but the waterfall was less of a sight than the Natural Bridge.

I have not been back for any of the special events, but I would like to go back for a concert or light show they occasionally have at the destination. While there we stepped inside the hotel across the street which is beautiful. There is a nice restaurant I would like to go back and try.

Natural Bridge State Park is a must from me. Go check it out, the drive and little walk is very worth the sight. Enjoy!
